So You Want to Coach at AYA?
Here's What You Need to Know.
We’re honored—truly—that so many incredible people are interested in coaching at As You Are Cycle + Lagree. It speaks volumes about the energy within these walls and how it’s being felt far beyond them.
But here’s the thing:
At AYA, we do things differently. Coaching here isn’t just about having the right certification or years of experience. Those things can be taught. What can’t be taught? Heart. Presence. Community.
Our coaches aren’t just instructors—they’re students too. They don’t stand above or apart from our members. They are in it—sweating, shaking, spinning, struggling, growing. They don’t just teach the method. They’ve fallen in love with it. They’ve mastered it by living it.
So if you’re looking to coach here one day, here’s where you start:
1. Become a Member
Before anything else, become a part of the community you hope to lead. Join us in the room. Take the classes in the modalities you want to teach. Get to know the people. Fall in love with the method, the music, the mission.
2. Be a Student First
Coaching at AYA requires mastery—not just of technique, but of presence. That comes from experiencing the classes as a student. Learn the flow. Understand the cues. Feel what it’s like to push through the hard moments, to be coached by someone who gets it.
3. Immerse Yourself
Don’t just take a few classes and call it good. Show up consistently. Hype up the crew. Be the person others are drawn to because of your energy, your encouragement, and your love for what we do.
4. Be a Team Player
This is HUUUUGE. We rise together here. That means cheering for your fellow coaches, subbing when you can, staying drama-free, and rooting for every class—even when you’re not the one on the mic. We don’t compete; we collaborate. If your vibe is “me over we,” this isn’t your place. But if you’re all about lifting others up while doing your thing, we’re listening.
5. Let It Be Organic
We’re always watching—in the best way. We notice the ones who lead from the middle of the pack, the ones who cheer the loudest, the ones who consistently show up with purpose. When the time is right, the opportunities often come naturally.
6. Master the Method
Whether it’s Cycle or Lagree (or both), we expect our coaches to know the work before they ever teach it. Not just intellectually, but physically. When you’ve lived it, you can lead it with authenticity and impact.
What We’re Not Looking For (No Offense!)
We're not a "send in your resume and hope for the best" kind of place. If you’ve never taken a class with us, don’t know our community, or aren’t currently active in the space, now’s not the time. But you can make it the time by walking through the door and starting as a member. We’d love that!
Why We Do It This Way
Group fitness can be intimidating. It can be hard to walk into a room not knowing what to expect or if you’ll be welcomed. That’s why our community matters so much. When you’re led by someone who’s been where you are, you feel it. It makes all the difference.
We’re not just building a schedule. We’re building something sacred. And we only want leaders who truly understand what makes this space so incredibly special: the people, the progress, the presence.
So if you feel called to coach at AYA one day—start today by being here. Fully. As you are. Always.
